Exciting News - Mama Strawberry's New Calf Has Arrived 🎉
Did you hear? Mama Strawberry's new calf has been born! Everyone is so excited and our preparations have begun for extra care of mom and calf. We need your help 🎉
As Strawberry's human caretakers, we want to pamper her and ensure that she and her newborn bull calf will have the best care. We invite you to join the fun of helping us shower Strawberry and Little Baby Bull with the things they need most. Please consider a donation.
Items Include:
- Treats - $15 - moms always need and appreciate treats - and Big Sister Sherbet needs extra treats too!
- Lactation Support - $15 - special grains to support lactation
- Bucket of Molasses - $40 - molasses in water is hydrating for cows and an energy drink best given after exertion (like Gatorade is for humans :)
- Spa Day for Mom - $40 - Strawberry would love and so appreciate a little hoof care and hoof trimming
- Meal Train - $50 - for one hay bale
- Prenatal Mineral Supplements - $50 - Selenium is a trace mineral that supports the reproductive organs and supports the healthy growth of mom and calf. The soil in the northeastern U.S. is deficient in this mineral, so we offer our cows supplemental selenium.
- Medication - $150 - Supplements and medication we will need on hand to be able to act immediately if "milk fever" occurs, which is a drop of calcium in the cow's blood. Some cows experience this and it requires immediate attention at the first sign of symptoms. We want to be ready, just in case.
- Veterinarian Support Visits - $200 to $1,000 - This will be Strawberry's fourth pregnancy and fifth birth, including last year when she had twins. And while she seemed to have an uncomplicated birth, she has a few health markers that will need to be monitored. She lost one of her twins last year shortly after the birth. so we are preparing to provide her the best care and we know vet visits can get expensive fast.
